Key Responsibilities
Equipment Operation
- Skillfully operate heavy machinery, including excavators, crushers, bulldozers, loaders, drills, and haul trucks, in alignment with mining plans and safety standards.
- Execute excavation, transportation, and material loading tasks with precision and efficiency.
Safety Compliance
- Strictly follow all safety protocols and regulations to protect personal and team safety in the work environment.
- Perform pre-operational inspections to ensure machinery is in optimal working condition.
Production Support
- Collaborate closely with supervisors to implement mining plans and meet production objectives.
- Continuously monitor equipment performance, reporting any malfunctions or issues to the maintenance team promptly.
Material Handling
- Load and transport extracted materials to designated locations, such as conveyor belts, trucks, or stockpiles, while maintaining accurate loading capacities.
- Assist in material stockpiling and ensure proper segregation of different ore grades.
Precision Operation
- Operate machinery with precision, especially in confined or challenging spaces, to prevent accidents, damages, or spillages.
- Adhere to excavation patterns and depths specified in mining plans.
Equipment Maintenance
- Collaborate with maintenance teams to perform routine tasks, such as greasing, oiling, and cleaning, ensuring equipment operates efficiently.
- Report significant equipment issues to maintenance teams for timely repairs.
Communication
- Maintain clear communication with supervisors, fellow operators, and team members to coordinate activities and ensure smooth workflow.
- Follow instructions from supervisors regarding excavation areas and target materials.
Environmental Stewardship
- Operate machinery in a way that minimizes environmental impact, particularly near water bodies, vegetation, or sensitive areas.
- Comply with environmental regulations and guidelines related to equipment operation.
Documentation
- Accurately record daily activities, including machine operating hours, fuel consumption, materials moved, and any incidents or accidents.
- Complete logbooks and reports in accordance with policy requirements.
Continuous Improvement
- Participate in training programs to enhance skills and knowledge of new equipment models and operational techniques.
- Provide feedback on equipment performance and suggest improvements to increase efficiency.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Key Qualifications
Academic and Experience Qualifications
- Possession of an Ordinary Secondary Education Certificate (CSEE).
Professional Qualifications
- Valid heavy equipment operator’s license or certification.
Technical Competencies
- Basic knowledge of equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in operating various heavy machinery, with a focus on safety and precision.
- Willingness to follow strict safety protocols and regulations.
- Understanding of mining plans, excavation patterns, and material handling procedures.
- Physical fitness and stamina for long hours of operation in challenging conditions.
Behavioral Competencies
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Experience
- Proven experience as a machine operator in a construction environment is desirable.
