Position: Principal officer & Managing Director 

Location: Tanzania

We are seeking a qualified reinsurance professional with expertise in reinsurance treaty arrangements and strong technical skills. The Principal Officer will oversee treaty placements within and beyond the Tanzanian market.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide dependable and financially robust reinsurance support to the industry, reducing reliance on international reinsurance brokerage firms.
• Facilitate retrocession treaty arrangements with reinsurers.
• Support insurers in underwriting significant and complex risks, including Oil and Gas, Bankers Blanket policies, Liability policies, large infrastructure projects, Aviation Insurance, Port package policies, and more.
• Offer reinsurance training to Underwriters.
• Advise insurance companies on designing effective reinsurance programs to maximize premium retention within the country.
• Conduct reinsurance audits for insurance companies to ensure compliance with treaty conditions and mitigate potential claim issues.
• Assist in establishing appropriate pooling arrangements for underwriting large and complex risks locally.
• Provide detailed performance reports on reinsurance programs to insurance companies.
• Undertake technical studies or research related to reinsurance as needed by the industry.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• A degree or diploma in insurance from a recognized institution.
• A minimum of five years of experience in the insurance or reinsurance sector.
• Strong ability to conceptualize and implement proposed systems.
• Exceptional attention to detail.
